ENGLISH SUMMARY

This morning on the balcony I noticed a small blade of grass growing out of the gap between two tiles. It reminded me of an article by Lao Yu: whatever you missed or got wrong, looking back means nothing. Life's choices aren't about regret but about how you walk from now on. We often feel some options were once worth 80 or 90 points and wonder whether everything would be different if we had chosen another path, but those options no longer exist. Sunk costs can't enter a new decision. Again and again we have to return to the starting point of choice, lay out the cards actually in our hand, and rationally pick the one with the highest value, however low the scores and however bad the situation. Even if you only hold a 3 and a 5, you must pick the 5. Each time may change nothing right away, but do it enough times and the direction shifts and your fate moves. It isn't a miracle; it is the compounding of choices. Many people think big choices decide our lives: whether to start a business, marry, or move cities. What really shapes how we live are the small daily decisions that seem to make no difference: whether to work properly today, whether to face reality this time, whether to carefully score the next card. Like that grass, keep sowing in different places, and with a little nourishment it grows.
