Adidas
English summary available ↓
Adidas's latest quarter showed revenue up 14 percent to 6.6 billion euros and operating profit up 16 percent to 705 million euros, while Nike's latest quarter was down 1 percent, with Nike Direct down 7 percent and China still under pressure. It's not as simple as Adidas winning and Nike losing. On execution, Adidas has rebuilt its wholesale relationships instead of chasing DTC alone, while DTC still grows, and it has moved beyond the Samba to Gazelle, Handball Spezial, SL72 and Tokyo, while Nike still leans on a few classics amid inventory and product refresh issues. What I find more interesting is that Adidas has developed a kind of ease. It still has running, football and performance, but its hottest products don't shout about how strong it is. Then I learned that in 2024 Adidas replaced Impossible Is Nothing, used for more than twenty years, with You Got This. The old line feels like a coach shouting keep going. The new one feels like a teammate or friend patting your shoulder when you're tired. Nike is still Just Do It, pushing you to prove yourself. Neither is wrong, but the two brands now carry different emotions: one says go prove yourself, the other says you're already enough. I don't know if this ease shows up in the financials, but many young people no longer chase winning at all costs; they want comfort and naturalness. Adidas may have caught not just a shoe, but this generation's mood.

Adidas 用了二十多年的 slogan——Impossible Is Nothing,在 2024 年正式换成了 You Got This。
“You got this.”
然后我突然想到,Nike 到今天还是 Just Do It。
